Help Support Our Planning Application

We have applied to Teignbridge District Council for planning, can you support us?

We have made our application to Teignbridge District Council for our brand new, purpose designed school.  The process has been long but very exciting, we have visited many schools across the country to learn from other environments.  Our building design has been created with the sensory needs of children at it's heart.  Learning from other schools was a fantastic experience as we had the great pleasure to visit children learning in some wonderful spaces and were able to hear from the pupils and their teachers about what could be improved and what worked well.

But how can you help?  Please support our application by adding a supportive comment.  This could describe the need in our area for a school like ours and support for our nature based curriculum. Click here to submit your comment on the Teignbridge Planning website.

We worked very closely with Architects who listened to our requests and developed their understanding of our curriculum and our future pupils needs.  Our building design is partly 2 storey, this helps us maximise the outdoor space and provides a natural progression through the school.  Each key stage will have their own area of the school, our younger children will enjoy an entrance close to our woodland walk and each ground floor class will have its own outdoor space to develop.  Our key stage 3 children will also be on the ground floor with their own outdoor spaces per class group and will have an entrance and exit that leads out towards our growing areas.  Our year 10 and 11 students will have their class bases on the first floor but will be able to walk straight outdoors due to our sloping site.  Our sixth formers will have their own college base also on the first floor with a common/life skills room and will enter the building through the main entrance and up stairs that will take them straight to their own college style rooms.

We are lucky to have a large hall space for indoor movement, PE activities, drama and celebrations and a separate dining hall and music studio.

We will have a classroom set apart from the main building for horticulture and small animal care which will lead straight out onto the animal and growing areas.

At break time students will be able to enjoy our gardens and make use of the play equipment laid out in the style of a trim trail.  There will also be a multi use games area where we can run around and play.
